About Alan Stanley

Alan came to the law later in life after a successful business career in construction. Alan set about retraining himself and obtained a First Class Law degree from the Open University in 2019 and then a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Law in 2020, finally qualifying and being welcomed onto the Roll of Solicitors early in 2022.

Initially practising in Family Law, which continues to comprise some of his caseload, Alan quickly expanded into Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation with a special interest in Construction Law. This move seemed only natural on account of his extensive hands-on experience within the construction industry. Construction Law is based on the usual laws of contract but stands apart somewhat on account of the added obligations and protections implied in large part by the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.

Alan is well versed in litigation, mediation and adjudication as a means to resolve disputes for individuals and organisations in the fields of construction; contact; debt and money claims; contentious probate; neighbour and boundary issues; company and partnership issues; insolvency; and family law.

In addition, Alan offers non-contentious services and advises on matters relating to construction contracts (including the standard contract suites); security; novation and assignment; collateral warranties; compromise agreements; and insolvency issues such as re-use of prohibited names.
